Typhoon And Heavy Rain Procedures

Here are the school guidelines for bad weather warnings like typhoons and heavy rain. However, please consider safety first when deciding whether to proceed to our kindergarten as we know that certain areas of Hong Kong may experience more severe weather. Our parents will receive a text message notification on the latest updates if there is any announcement on school closure in Hong Kong. You may also find the same information on our website homepage or the following platforms:

Before The Start Of A Session

Note: Please follow the Education Bureau or Social Welfare Department decisions should it be different from our usual procedures.

Event Signals Actions
Typhoon No.1 Signal All sessions will continue as normal unless the Education Bureau or Social Welfare Department announces closure of all schools due to considerable risk to children.
Typhoon No.3 Signal or above AM and full day sessions will be closed if the signal is still in place at 6.00 am. If T3 or above signal is still in place at 10.30 am, the afternoon session will be cancelled. If the signal is lowered to T1 before 10.30 am, the school will reopen for the afternoon session.
Rainstorm Amber Rainstorm Warning All sessions will continue as normal unless the Education Bureau or Social Welfare Department announces closure of all schools due to considerable risk to children.
Rainstorm Red Rainstorm Warning AM and full day sessions will be closed if the warning is still in place at 6.00 am. If the red rainstorm warning is still in place at 10.30 am, the afternoon session will be cancelled. If the warning is lowered to amber before 10.30 am, the school will reopen for the afternoon session.
Rainstorm Black Rainstorm Warning AM and full day sessions will be closed if the warning is still in place at 6.00 am. If the black rainstorm warning is still in place at 10.30 am, the afternoon session will be cancelled. If the warning is lowered to amber before 10.30 am, the school will reopen for the afternoon session.

While School Is In Session

We do advise if the rain is very heavy in your area, or if there is flooding, to keep your child at home as the weather can deteriorate quickly. Please listen to the radio, watch television, or visit the Hong Kong Observatory website for regular updates on the weather.

Please note all outdoor activities will be postponed if the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) reaches 8. For more information please click here.

Rainstorm Black Rainstorm Warning Classes will continue until the end of normal hours. Children are to remain in school until conditions are safe for them to be collected by parents or caregivers. If school buses are cancelled, the school will advise parents or caregivers to collect their children from school.
