The Beaver children thoroughly enjoyed interacting with real minibeasts such as mealworms and snails while exploring the theme, "Why do ladybirds have spots?" It was nice to see that they weren't afraid of picking up the worms with bare hands and getting up close with the snails to feed them. They've also enjoyed various activities in the classroom related to the theme. Some of the mealworms the children took home to care for eventually grew up and were set free as young beetles!
