The Crickets class have been learning about Hong Kong money. As a class we decided to create bicycle repair shops. We created our stock of bicycle parts and shop windows. The prices of the parts were set low and every 5 minutes the prices would be raised for each part. This presented the class with a challenge as to what change they should give their customers. We had customers from our different classes who visited the bank to collect money before they came to visit the shops.
The activity was an excellent demonstration to the Crickets class of how to use money effectively when giving change. Additionally, it taught the concept of valuing an object based on a market price.
