Meet our Education Team

Gazel Razavi

General Manager

Gazel Razavi is the General Manager at Woodland Pre-schools. With extensive experience in education in Hong Kong, Gazel joins us from Parkview International Pre-School Group where she was Head of four pre-primary schools. Prior to that, Gazel was the Founding Principal of Eton House, a Reggio Emilia bilingual school. Gazel is looking forward to using her knowledge of the Hong Kong education landscape to reinforce the excellence in Woodland for generations to come.

Rae Lang

Director of Teaching and Learning

Rae Lang has over 15 years Education Leadership experience, in her native country New Zealand and overseas in England and Vietnam. Most recently as Deputy Head of School in one of our Cognita Schools in Vietnam, where Rae led the international school to successful accreditation to the Council of International Schools and New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Rae deeply believes in the Woodland philosophy of ‘Respecting the Image of the Child’ and looks forward to using her experience and knowledge to further enhance this.

Tom Fairclough

Director of Extra-Curricular Programmes

Thomas Fairclough moved to Hong Kong with his family, joining Woodland Pre-Schools in early 2020 having spent the previous 3 years at our fellow Cognita school in Singapore – Stamford American International School. A love of the outdoors and the extra-curriculars is channeled by his adventurous spirit, which has led Thomas to dedicate his career to providing young children with opportunities to explore and develop new interests, deepening their social and intellectual growth, and gaining an understanding and appreciation for the natural world around them.

Dan Hicks

Education Lead

Dan Hicks has been an educator with Woodland Pre-schools for over 5 years, having initially joined the school teaching at the Mid-Levels campus. During his time as Education Lead, Dan has helped lead and implement innovative curriculum enhancements, including our play-based inquiry approach and the protective behaviours programme. Dan believes that knowledgeable early years educators are important for the future of society and that we cannot teach our children the same way we were taught when we were in school. He also believes that leaving comfort zones and being curious about uncertainty helps both adults and children continue to learn.

Michelle Choi

Mandarin Coordinator

Michelle Choi has taught in a variety of educational settings, from public to private sectors and local to international schools in Hong Kong. She brings nearly 20 years of experience as a teacher and became a leader and Mandarin coordinator over the past three years in Woodland Pre-schools. During this time, Michelle was actively involved in developing different approaches for children and worked closely with teachers to develop a rigorous curriculum.  Michelle is an enthusiastic and dedicated educator who strives to find creative ways to build children’s love of the Mandarin language and encourage understanding of cultural diversity in their journey toward lifelong learners. She is passionate about providing a positive, joyful and inspiring environment for children to reach their full potential in learning Mandarin so that they can become confident and self-driven learners.
