    Ms. Patti Wang

    Mandarin Curriculum Leader

Qualifications: Master degree in Language Teaching (Hong Kong Polytechnic University)

Nationality/years in Hong Kong and/or Asia: Chinese, 7 years in HK

What do you love about your job?
I love the fact that working with children maintains my own youthful outlook no matter how long I have been teaching! I love how much laughter they contribute to my life and enjoy being part of their growth and development.

What do you enjoy most about working at Woodland?
The exciting environment for learning and playing together. For Mandarin Language education, Woodland understands how important Mandarin is for young children in today’s world and consistently puts effort into making the Mandarin Programme better.

What’s your favourite memory of teaching at Woodland?
I have fond memories from all the children I taught - the big ones, the small ones, the curious ones, the happy ones and the grumpy ones! The best feeling is sometimes running into previous students and hearing their memories of my classes and influences on their present life.

What do you like to do when you are not teaching?
I enjoy different activities after work such as hiking, singing in a choir and enjoy different cuisines from all over the world. Hong Kong has been an amazing place for me as I made many friends from all nationalities and I cherish spending time with them.

  • Yeng Ng

    Ms. Yeng Ng

    Preparation for Primary Curriculum Leader

Qualifications: BSc Social Sciences and Post Graduate Certificate in Education

Nationality/years in Hong Kong and/or Asia: British, 9 years in Hong Kong

What do you love about your job?
I love witnessing children’s development throughout the year and that ‘eureka’ moment, when they found a task difficult, and then they just ‘get it’!

What do you enjoy most about working at Woodland?
The children are great to teach and very funny. Our team was very supportive and helpful when I first joined. It can be tough being the new girl, but everyone at Harbourside and the rest of the Woodland team made my transition much easier for me!

What’s your favourite memory of teaching at Woodland?
I was on lunch duty and a group of boys were being quite noisy and not really eating their lunch. I was about to tell them to calm down and to continue eating, when a little girl said to me, “Miss Yeng, why are boys so noisy and annoying?!”
My reply was, “They don’t grow out of it!”

What do you like to do when you are not teaching?
I like seeing my friends in my spare time, hiking, sleeping, eating and going to the beach, when the weather is good. My favourite hike is the Dragons Back, as you end up in Shek O with the beach and good food. The toughest hike I’ve done is Lantau Peak. Wasn’t a good idea to hike it in the summer either! I used to play hockey and I am thinking about picking up my hockey stick again.
